Even the Demons Shudder

August 27, 2017 Speaker: Pastor David Lovi Series: The Gospel of Matthew

Passage: Matthew 8:28–8:34, Mark 5:1–5:10

Even the Demons Shudder(1)

Even the Demons Shudder

If there were a theme for Matthew 8, it would be this: Jesus is Lord over all. He has shown us that He is Lord over sickness. He has shown us that He is Lord over nature.

Today He is going to prove to us, in our passage, that He is Lord over the spiritual realm as well.

In Matthew 8: 28-34 we’re going to meet two miserable men controlled and possessed by a whole legion of demons. These men have wreaked havoc in their town. But even in this case, Jesus is going to show us again that there is no one who is too far lost in darkness that the grace of God cannot reach them.

Praise God for that!

King Jesus who is the King of kings and Lord of lords, who is the King of all the universe, actually cares about those who are in the gutter of life. Jesus didn’t throw these men away because they were bad. He loved them and He saved them. Because He is not only the King of kings and Lord of lords, He is also compassionate and loving and He cares about his creatures.

Let’s ask the Lord now to speak to us through His Word as He always does, that the Word would penetrate through our ears and down into our hearts, that we would believe it. And we would live accordingly.
